Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) has been gaining momentum over the last decade among the masses. As proof it hit complete mainstream last summer, my mother called asking about it.
One of the spin offs of the SUP movement has been SUP yoga and SUP fitness classes. Never wanting to miss a chance to be a leader in a new discipline (and having the market cornered as the only SUP boarder/lifeguard/yoga teacher in the area), I will be teaching SUP yoga classes in Minneapolis on Monday 8/29, Tuesday 9/6, and Monday 8/12. No SUP or yoga experience necessary. Although it would be handy if you know how to swim or at least know how not to sink. Here’s the official description I wrote for the Yoga Center of Minneapolis web site:
Steadiness and comfort of both body and mind are benefits of regular yoga practice. Take your practice off the mat and onto open water! Learn to cultivate that physical and spiritual steadiness on the inherently unsteady surface of a stand up paddleboard (SUP). SUP yoga has taken the coasts by storm in the last couple years. Come see what the buzz is about right here in Minneapolis.
